In 2016, we led a popular SMA workshop about DIY exhibits on a budget. In conjunction with recent museum renovations, we updated and upgraded our exhibits, still on a budget and with our signature DIY approach! Join us at the Marshall Steam Museum to see for yourself the results of our labor as we share the new tips and tricks we’ve employed and invite you to try your hand at some of the techniques used. You will also learn how to create genuinely mobile exhibit components in a space where collections are constantly on the move (in our case, the museum’s vehicles are driven regularly on the open road so nothing can be fixed or permanent!). This will be a “show-share-and-try” workshop (with a fun takeaway for those inclined to participate), and attendees are encouraged to bring examples of how they have been creative with DIY exhibit components at their museums and historic sites.

Pre-registration is required and limited to 60 attendees, speakers, or sponsors/vendors of the 2023 conference. Registrants are also encouraged to carpool to the location. Click here for directions, parking, accessibility, and more information.
